Laser Skin Resurfacing

What is Erbium Laser?

Erbium Laser is one of the most prominent ablative laser resurfacing devices for skin rejuvenation. This laser uses heat to remove the superficial layer of the skin, which improves skin tone, texture, and fine lines on the face, chest, neck, and hands.

The Erbium laser beam breaks up into tiny beams which cause microinjuries to the superficial layer of skin and promote rapid healing. Microinjuries stimulate collagen production and help skin appear smoother and tighter.

The Erbium laser releases light that will then be absorbed by the water when the light hits the skin. The tissue that consists of water is vaporized. The exorbitant heat in the area that is created by the laser will result in collagen shrinkage and stimulates the formation of collagen which will tighten the skin further.

What can I expect from Erbium Laser treatment?

Immediately after treatment, the skin may feel warm and appear red, but this should subside within 30 minutes. Possible swelling and peeling of the skin should be expected but will heal 3-5 days after treatment.

How is Erbium Laser treatment performed in Sunny Aesthetic ?

It is recommended to avoid sun exposure, chemical peels, other laser resurfacing treatments, and microdermabrasion 4 weeks prior to the procedure.  We recommend discontinuing the use of Retinol /Retin-A products a week before the procedure.

On the day of the appointment, please arrive with clean skin. We will then numb the skin by applying topical anesthesia 30 minutes before treatment. The procedure usually takes about 30 minutes.  For the first 3 days after treatment, we recommend keeping the skin moisturized with barrier creams, such as Auphore or Alastin Nectar, and washing the skin with a gentle cleanser daily.
